Shravana Kere, Kachigebailu Village desilting work completion -2025

Over the past five years, the SARA Centre, alongside its partners and local communities, has revived 17 lakes directly and supported more through collaborations in Shivamogga district. These efforts have replenished groundwater, restored ecosystems, improved soil health, revived biodiversity, and sustained farming livelihoods.

Our experience clearly shows that the widespread borewell culture has harmed the ecosystem and cannot replace the long-term ecological benefits that traditional lakes offer—especially during the crucial summer months.

The success of our lake revival efforts has inspired communities, strengthened participatory conservation, and sparked renewed interest in ecological restoration. The last four summers have shown us the visible impact of this work—water security, environmental balance, and renewed hope in the region.

Looking ahead, we plan to revive several more lakes with the potential to benefit thousands of people and surrounding ecosystems.

These milestones would not have been possible without the generous support of our donors, partners, and well-wishers. We are deeply grateful for your trust in our work. Every revived lake reflects your commitment to sustainability and ecological justice.

As we step into the next phase, we invite your continued support in restoring the lifelines of the Western Ghats—for the people, for the land, and for the future.

This year we have completed Shravana Kere in Kachigebailu Village, Hosanagara Taluka with the generous support from ACI Worldwide and the lake beneficiaries.
