Western Ghats Eco Walk 2018,  June 5 -8, 2018.

Overview

The Western Ghats Eco Walk 2018, organized by the SARA Centre, took place from June 5 to 8, 2018. This remarkable initiative was led by enthusiastic students aged 10 to 17 who were actively involved in the 2017 Eco Walk. They aimed to connect with their peers and communities while covering a scenic 90 km stretch from Keladi, Sagara, to Issuru, Shikaripura, in Karnataka, India.

Journey Through 50 Villages and Towns

The Eco Walk traversed approximately 50 villages and towns, profoundly impacting its route. Engaging with the local community, involving more than 10,000 schoolchildren from 60 schools, was a key focus. The Eco Walk also collaborated with over 40 local organizations to enhance the program’s reach and effectiveness.

Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders

The heart of the Eco Walk lies in empowering young minds to become stewards of the environment. Students participated in the walk and played an active role in connecting with their counterparts throughout the journey. This unique approach fosters a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness among the youth.
